Zane cups my cheek with his hand and uses his finger to tilt my head up. Our eyes meet. Just like that, I’m a goner. I’m caught in the eye of a fifty-foot wave. Or, a barrel plummeting over a waterfall. Either way, the sheer rush of emotion threatens to pull me under.
Yet, somehow in this moment, I’m also at peace. Everything I’ve suppressed for years bubbles up to the surface.
