Book Excerpt

Riana changed her clothes before her fight session with Kyra, still hyped from horse-back riding with Cy. He was without a doubt, the sexiest male she’d ever met. Her womb had practically seized when she’d dismounted and slid down the length of all those hard muscles. At that moment, Tonka wasn’t all she’d wanted to ride. What would it be like to spend an entire evening with him? A smile quirked the corners of her mouth. It would be fun finding out.
The front door slammed and Riana went into the kitchen. Elle was bent over the sink guzzling water from the faucet, her face pink from exertion. She’d just returned from her fighting session with Kyra. “How did it go?”
Elle wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “Well, I didn’t take her down. But, she didn’t take me down either. I definitely gave her a run for her money. She’s tough. She’s been doing this all afternoon and no one has put her on the mat. If you or the girl who’s with her now doesn’t, she’s going to be hard to live with. I can hear her running her mouth now.”
Dread curled in Riana’s gut. If Elle couldn’t beat Kyra, there wasn’t any hope for her. In the past, when she and Elle sparred, Elle could beat the crap out of her without breaking a sweat.
Riana put on her tennis shoes and left for the gym. When she entered, Kyra sat in the middle of the mats with her legs crossed, drinking a bottle of Voss water.
“Come on, Martin, let’s get this over with,” Kyra said.
Riana’s stomach somersaulted. What Kyra probably meant was, “Come on in. Let me beat you down so I can go home.”
“Are you still undefeated?”
Kyra’s eyes narrowed. “Yeah, why? You plan to change that?”
Riana squared her shoulders. If she let Kyra know how nervous she was, or how much she despised fighting, it’d only make her draw this out longer. Fear seemed to boost her ego. When it came to fighting ability, Kyra’s tenacious ego needed no extra fuel. Riana pinned her with a determined stare. “I guess we’re about to find out.”

Publication date: June 7th 2016
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult
Cassie is part of it now. Turns out, she may not want to join the coven, but that’s exactly what she did when she bonded herself to Nate. Rather than face the ordeal of joining the clan, Cassie finds it’s time for a road trip with her best friend, Whitney. The road trip was to get away, maybe learn a bit more about night humans—it wasn’t to find a deep dark secret hidden in Whitney’s past, one that may hit a little closer to home than Cassie wants to admit. With their road trip cut short, it is time to confront everyone about the lies that had been their lives, but Cassie soon finds out home isn’t exactly how she left it.
Where have all the witches gone? She’s the only witch left in town when they return. Soon she is dragged into more than she bargained for and she has to make choices that will change everything. She’s finally given a choice: does she want to be a skinwalkers witch or a wendigo witch? Too bad there are more secrets than answers. Without all the facts, can she really choose her life’s direction? Time isn’t on her side as she has to make a choice. Now she just hopes it’s the right one.

EXCERPT:
The boy glanced down. “Entry denied,” he read out on the machine.
“Denied?” Cassie asked in disbelief.
“You’re not just a day human,” the boy replied, pointing to the scanner which had just tried to eat Cassie’s hand. “Anyone who is part of a ruling family must seek permission to visit before coming so that the proper welcome can be made.”
“I’m not part of any ruling family,” Cassie replied. What is he talking about?
“Ugh,” Whitney groaned. “You’re Than’s mate and thus part of the ruling family. I didn’t think about that. I figured your family or mine had called ahead of us and wanted us home. They didn’t, but this …” Whitney shook her head like she should have guessed as much.
Cassie groaned, too. Their road trip was being cut short. She just wanted to get away, and now that was being foiled by Nate, and he wasn’t even there.
“Well, technically, she isn’t part of the family yet. She has yet to complete all the bonding rituals and right now is still under her own family,” Whitney added, batting her eyes and using her movie star looks to try to win over the guy.
“Completely true,” Cassie added, trying her best to imitate her friend and her “pretty please” face.
The guy glanced first at Cassie, and then at Whitney. He gave in. “I need to verify this with my boss,” he said before he turned and walked away.

About the Book

Title: A Mirror Among Shattered Glass
Author: Romarin Demeteri
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Unable to contain the deadly nature of her family secret and powers, nine-teen year old Romarin Demetri hails from California, U.S.A, to unearth her heritage as a descendant of serial-killer, Countess Bathory, the woman that lent Dracula his legend, and cursed Romarin with an appetite for blood.
Unenthusiastic about relocating to her birth city of London, a charming paranormal investigator with claim to the throne could change her mind, as he leads her to the only living and distant relative she has: a raven-haired recluse named Talia, who has taken refuge in an old castle in the heart of the city, and doesn’t seem to have a heart of her own.
After a rough introduction to the lethal, inappropriate, and enchantingly sarcastic people she calls her housemates, perhaps the other misfits will be her first true friends; However, as much as these people are like her, they still have hidden vendettas, a taste for revenge, and will struggle between what is just, and what will settle their psychological upheaval. There is only one way for Romarin to become part of the Supernatural London Underground: Can she be the one who challenges them to put down their ghosts and demons and make their world together?

Book Tour: Where's Sailor Jack? by John Uttley

Where's Sailor Jack?
John Uttley

Publication Date: April 15, 2015
 ASIN: B00W851QLM

Print Length: 324 pages

Book Description:

A family saga that takes in three generations of two families and all the struggles, tribulations and fireworks that you would expect as well as plenty you wouldn’t. Where’s Sailor Jack is the story of Bob Swarbrick’s journey from Northern-grammar-school-boy to business magnate through the break up of his marriage, the arrival of a new lover and an unhurried, consistent search for meaning in his life.

Bob and Richard are grammar school boys ‘done good’. Starting life in similar working class homes they have progressively climbed the ladder until they are able to both sit comfortably as champions of industry, and look back on their achievements and failures with the keen Northern wit that never left them, even after years of exile life in the south.

As they reflect on their lives, loves and business decisions both try to find an explanation to fit their lives: Bob seeks purpose, Richard meaning. While soul-searching, the reader is witness to an exemplary part of British history - from their childhoods in post war Northern England to the boom years in a prospering South (before survivors guilt starts to bite in their latter years and they wonder just how their opportunities would have worked out if they were born a few decades later).

The book covers and takes a unique look at romance, religion, business sense and social mobility but does so with wry tongue in its cheek whilst looking for a laugh, not a deep and meaningful conversation.

He stared at his clipboard. What do I have against her? An image of her leather-clad body came to mind, sending a heat wave through him. He struggled to get Ashley off his mind. He didn’t need another romantic entanglement with his female lead. Look where the last one had gotten him. Despite where his thoughts took him, he wasn’t interested in the upstart.
“Yes, but she mentioned stage fright herself. She hasn’t performed since age ten. And, even then, she didn’t win any of those competitions. She’s too much of a risk,” he said.
“Antonio, I agree with you. She’s a ball of raw energy. But wouldn’t you love to develop her talent? She could burn up a stage.”
“She doesn’t have the build of a classical dancer.”
“Body type’s no longer set in stone,” Mia countered.
“I vote for Ashley,” Duncan raised his hand.
“I also vote for Ashley.” Mia put her pen down on her clipboard, as if laying down the gauntlet.
“I’m the one who’s going to have to spend hours working with her. Not you.” His words were met with silence. He tried again. “I don’t think she has the stamina for the boot camp.”
They stared at him.
He held his hands up in surrender but said, “If she doesn’t book a flight home after the first week then my name isn’t Antonio Machiavelli.”
Duncan fist-pumped the air. “Mia, do the call.”
Usually when those who made it through to this final point were announced he would head back to his hotel, but today he didn’t. He wanted to see how the girl took the news.
They found three good contenders for the spot and decided to give them all the opportunity to come to his ballet boot camp in Rome. After the training period, the female lead principal would be chosen from the best the world could offer.
Antonio folded his arms and watched the nervous movement on stage. He didn’t see Ashley amongst the group. Duncan threw him a questioning look, but he’d be damned if he knew what was going on.
Then she burst onto the stage but took a place at the back, her earlier fierceness replaced by a nervous fidget. She wore her sweatpants and hoodie, again, he noted with regret.
“Thank you for coming. Unfortunately, we can’t take all of you. There have been some good performances, and I want to encourage you to keep on training, to keep on dancing.”
Antonio zoned out of Mia’s little speech. She did the talk every time. But he knew she meant every word. She was such a bleeding heart. There were dancers he wanted to encourage to get another day job, maybe become a dentist.
“So, without further ado, would Meaghan Lewis, Thandi Nelson, and Ashley Solomons please step forward?” With those words, they dismissed the rest.
Meaghan and Thandi squealed and hugged their friends. Ashley, however, stood stock-still as if she couldn’t believe what was happening, then from the side of the stage a pixie of a woman came running and bulldozed her over, both of them landing in a pile of limbs.

Sam is smart, crazy, intense, addicted to intensity, and Alex knows it. And it annoys the hell out of her. Not that Alex would mind a little intensity. Or a lot. Four years of college and all she has to be proud of are good grades. She begs her friend Sophie for something fun, and Sophie invites Alex to dinner and chess with friends, including Sam. But dinner and chess isn't the kind of fun Alex wants. Then Sophie drops her bomb.

"It's strip chess, Alex."

Sam sees Alex as a good opponent, and a good girl. How will he react if he sees the rest of her? That might be more intensity than Alex can handle.

Looking for a sexy romp in your reading? Then Discovered Mate by Todd Caldwell is what you want. Or need.

I have heard of strip poker, which I have never played, but strip chess is a whole other ball of wax. Our leading lady Alex has been all study and little fun. Now with finals and many years of hard work behind her it is time to let her hair down and get wild. Oh and she does, maybe even more than her friends would have ever dreamed. The story of six friends having dinner and playing games is fun and witty.

I did get lost in the rules of the game, I am not a chess player and don’t understand it already add in new rules for losing clothes and I was royally lost. Loser has to do dares. This I understand and this is where the sexy kicks in. Watching a female friend do naked yoga can really get the crowed hot and bothered. As for the simple indoor dares I was cool, but the public dare I was not so thrilled with. You can read and decide that on your own. In the end Alex and her rival Sam see each other in a whole new light or should I say see ALL of each other.

This story is fun, light and full of sexy college debauchery.
