Tuesday Takeover Spotlight: L.B. Dunbar

L.B. Dunbar loves to read to the point it might be classified as an addiction. The past few years especially she has relished the many fabulous YA authors, the new genre of New Adult, traditional romances, and historical romances. A romantic at heart, she’s been accused of having an overactive imagination, as if that was a bad thing. Author of the Sensations Collection, Sound Advice, Taste Test, Fragrance Free, Touch Screen, and the upcoming Sight Words, she is also author of the Legendary Rock Star series, beginning with The Legend of Arturo King. When not writing, she’s usually driving one of her four growing children somewhere. She grew up in Michigan, but has lived in Chicago for longer, calling it home with her husband and children.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Currently, I am editing The Story of Lansing Lotte. This story is the continuation of The Legend of Arturo King in which something tragic has happened at the end of Arturo’s story and Lansing’s picks up the next day. From Lansing Lotte’s perspective, you’ll see him coping with the questions of his band, The Nights, as well as his near-to-boiling desire for Guinevere, his best friend’s girl. Lansing is quite the ladies’ man earning him the nickname the Lady Killer. Women are faithfully obsessed woman with him, but he’s only wanted one woman ever. Then he meets someone in his attempts to be a good guy when most things he does are so wrong, and the course of history is altered forever

Here’s a blurb…
I get it. I’ve heard the jokes. My name sounds like some medieval character who was a hero. Hell, my best friend’s named Arturo King. Ring any medieval bells? But this is my story and I’m no hero. I also get the jokes. Lancelot is a play on the words lance and lot. A lance refers to a sword, which is a euphemism for dick. What does a man do with his dick? He fucks. A lot. So, if my name is Lansing Lotte, I must be fucking a lot. Get it? Fucking. A lot. Which I’m not saying I don’t. That’s not the point. Another reference to something sexual. Get my point? Huh, I made a punny. But again, this is my story, and I haven’t done anything funny. In fact, I’ve killed three women, and only one of them I loved. Yeah, that’s right. Not laughing now. It’s not funny. I’m definitely no fucking hero.

Who designs your covers?
Kari Ayasha at Cover to Cover Designs - aren’t they gorgeous?

Do you have any advice for other writers?
Tons - but first is write from your heart...then research this indie world. Get to know bloggers and attend takeovers. Ask questions - most indie authors are willing to help newbies.

Do you have any writing rituals or certain things you do to aid your writing process?
I wish I did, but I don’t. I like to listen to music before or after I’ve written something and it might sway a scene. I mainly write when I can, when the idea hits.

Favorite snack and thing to drink while you write?
As my fingers are busy typing, I don’t really have a favorite snack or drink while writing. However, I love Coca-cola and popcorn either before or after I write.

eBook or print?
I still LOVE paperbacks but I have succumb to reading solely on my ereader. It’s more convenient and the books are cheaper. If I really love a book, I might buy it in paperback AFTER I read it on my ipad.
Junk food or sweets? - Aren’t they the same? LOL - I love junk food like popcorn, chips, salsa, but I love, love, love cookies. It was my first word, my mother told me.
Dogs or cats?
Uhm...neither really, but if I had to choose, it would be dog.
Tea or coffee?
Tea - I cannot stand the smell of coffee. I don’t really drink tea that often, but I do like it.
Dark or light colors?
Light. I love lavender/lilac, yellow, orange and pink.
Angels or demons?
Oh boy….who doesn’t like a little demon who’s really an angel underneath.
Paranormal romance or historical romance?
A few years ago I would have said paranormal hands down. I loved Twilight, but now I would say historical. About a year or so ago I rediscovered it through Sarah MacLean and it was an instant love affair with her books.
Boxers or Briefs?
Boxer briefs...sigh...so sexy.
Control Freak or Careless Jerk?
Neither really but...I’d like the control if it is only because he loves the heroine so much it’s more about possession and loyalty. Unless you are talking about me, then total control freak. LOL

Must read books:
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
Shakespeare
that’s only four, and probably not what you were expecting. But if you want MUST reads, this is my list.

**Release Day Blitz** Soul by Audrey Carlan

Title: Soul
Series: Trinity Trilogy #3
Author: Audrey Carlan
 Release Date: March 30, 2015

Synopsis

I was a dead woman.

I’d finally had a glimpse of true love, admiration, and the kind of devotion only your soulmate, your other half, could provide…until it was physically ripped away.

Taken.

My stalker had me, and there was little hope I’d be found. I knew Chase would use all his money and resources to search the ends of the Earth for me, but I knew the monster I was dealing with. Years of looking into the eyes of pure evil gave me the unique experience to know that my situation was dire. If Chase didn’t find me soon, I’d be gone forever.

***

In the third and final novel in the erotic suspense, Trinity Trilogy, SOUL connects with the reader by providing the story through the eyes of Gillian, Chase, and the man that wants to own her soul but can’t for she’s already given it to another.

Everyone is on the hunt to save Gillian from the arms of a killer. This book can be considered dark, erotic, and thrilling. As in Body (Trinity Trilogy Book 1) the issue of domestic violence plays heavily in the storyline, and Gillian experiences many disturbing flashbacks of the past alongside tragedy the stalker brings to the present. There is also a lot of love, devotion, and friendship. As with all my books, the characters will ultimately have their happily ever after.

Warning: This book is designed for audiences 18+ due to language, graphic sexual content, and themes that some may find disturbing. SOUL is book 3 of a three-part trilogy. Body (Trinity Trilogy - Book 1) and Mind (Trinity Trilogy - Book 2) must be read prior to reading SOUL.

EXCERPT:
It’s crowded, but since it’s a weeknight, it’s not nearly as packed as usual. Since I’m about to lose my bull riding virginity I’m thankful for the slightly smaller crowd. As promised, Mike goes first but the ride operator isn’t as gentle on the men and he flies off pretty quickly. I think he might have wacked his balls against the hand hold on his way down. He winces a bit as he gets up. “You okay?” I ask him, giggling, but I’m truly worried about his man parts. He pulls me in close, his breath caressing my ear. I’m holding my breath as he whispers, “I think my baby makers are broken.” I laugh as he places a kiss on my cheek. “Good luck, baby, now go ride that bull like you’d ride me.” He says it loud enough for everyone to hear and if I thought I was going to go deaf from the music before that was nothing compared to the whooping and hollering of the crowd. Of course the ride operator uses it to his advantage “What’s your girl’s name?” he yells across to Mike. There’s a devious gleam in Mike’s eyes as he replies “Jessica, but all her good friends call her Jess.” He nods that he’s got it and after I’m straddled onto the bull, he holds nothing back. “Alright, everyone, let’s hear it for our new friend Jess! Now, we all heard her boyfriend tell her to ride our bull like she rides him at home, so I think we’re in for a show.” My cheeks were already flushed from the alcohol, my palms sweaty from nerves, but the embarrassment zinging through me makes my entire body burn. I catch Mike out of the corner of my eyes, laughing and shrugging his shoulders in a semi apology. At least he had the decency to not give my real name. The bull starts off nice and slow, periodically gyrating a few times in a forward motion, but I’m able to hold on with just one hand. I don’t really know how long this goes on, maybe a minute or so, when I hear the announcer tell Mike over the PA system that he’s a lucky man. At this point, he’s done being nice and the bull starts bucking around like crazy. I’m able to hold it together for about another thirty seconds or so before I go flying off. Someone helps me to my feet and I stumble over to Mike as the crowd starts chanting ‘kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss’. Hell, at this point what does it matter? Mike’s eyes seek permission from mine as I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him close. He kisses me and the crowd goes wild. It’s just like the kiss we shared in my bed a few days ago—a little more than just friends, but not exactly like lovers. Whatever it is, I allow myself to feel it and the crowd cheers their approval.

Review: Final Hour by Cate Dean

Time brought them together - will it also tear them apart?

Elizabeth Barritt fought hard to put her childhood behind her. Now she has the chance to move forward, to reach out for a new future.

Her first step takes her right into Jackson Kane's path. He is a time traveler, from the future, and on the hunt for a rogue agent.

Their attraction is immediate, unexpected - and for Kane, an unwanted distraction. When he is injured protecting Elizabeth, he is forced to make a decision that will change both of their lives. He takes her to his time.

Once Kane is healed, he has to continue his hunt, and he and Elizabeth say goodbye. But his journey back to war-torn London takes a sideways turn, forcing Elizabeth to make a choice. She follows him into the past, to help him stop one man from changing their future.

***For readers 18 and older.***

Final Hours is a romantic time- travel story by Cate Dean. A chance encounter by Elizabeth and Kane sets history on a new course. Together the two will fight to keep the past as it is written. Going back to Europe in 1941 the couple must learn to trust each other. Both having been orphan from different time eras they understand each other more than either would like to admit. While fighting to keep alive and save the lives of other around them they learn that attachment to another can be a good thing. With the help of their tech savvy friend Mac, who can calibrate their transports for the two to find each other, Elizabeth and Kane are able to find their way back to each other.
Like the character Elizabeth it took me awhile to understand that Kane and his comrades weren’t magical beings but time-travelers. Not normally a sci-fi kind of girl I really enjoyed the story. I liked that Elizabeth started off seemingly weak was able to find her inner strength and peace. The men that crossed her path weren’t their just to save her but to help her save herself. Kane was a great balance of man of mystery and true gentleman. He was tender when needed to be but would kill to save the lives of those he cared about. When these to finally come together physically it is sweet and spicy. Even the sub-plots in the story were intriguing and I wanted to know more about the other characters.

Fabulous, intriguing read. I loved this book. There is the suspense, the romance, there are sad parts, there are funny parts, there is even some action. The story was written well, the author kept me right there in the story, I read it in one sitting, couldn't put it down. Now I am anxiously waiting until I can read book 2.

Author Bio

I've spent many years crafting stories in my brain. Finally, after the encouragement from those that love and support me the most, I put my first story out by self-publishing in 2013.

That first milestone created a writing monster in me that couldn't be stopped and filled a void I cannot explain. Each story is a true gift from my heart and a sacrifice from my soul, since I find it difficult to let the characters go.

At home in Texas, my husband and I share our life with children that mean the world to us and include a couple of fur babies. When we aren't busy watching sports and betting on the game, we are entertaining with friends.

I do have a writing cave, but honestly, most of my work comes from the kitchen, the heartbeat of any home. Since noise doesn't disturb me too much when writing, I can write and keep the pulse on the family at the same time. And... Possibly enjoy my favorite, sinful treat... Cookie dough!

The writer-reader world is my lifeline. I'm addicted and each time I get a message from a reader, I'm thrilled. There's quite a few stories planned for the next several months. I'm hoping the readers fall in love with my next series, The Creek Series. A story that is guaranteed to bring out all the emotions.

If you've read my books, thank you! It truly means the world.

Fletcher prefers solitude and has no plans for that to change. So when a sassy-mouthed beauty from Georgia suddenly, desperately needs his help, he hopes he can put the harsh life of combat behind him and move ahead.
Can Sky and Fletcher heal, change, and reach out to each other for a chance at love?

This is a contemporary romance set in the present setting told in the first person narration alternating between the two. This book is written well.
You get a lot of different emotions in this book. Starts off with you feeling bad for her then you jump into literally laughing out loud. Some suspense also. I loved her friend Terri she's a hoot. I loved the conversations. I loved this book. Even though the characters have sad parts they both have awesome senses of humor. They are quite sexy together too. His ex is nuts. He liked to try and control her but it was funny because if he made her mad she was a firecracker.
