Death Eater by Catherine Stoval is four short stories that make up on big novel. I am not sure why it was divided up since it stayed in third person the whole time. If it had been a first person and charged POV’s that might have been interesting and call for four shorts, but that’s my opinion. It was an interesting read and I liked it but not something I would have picked up on my own. With a title like Death Eaters, this reminded me of Harry Potter, which was fine, and I was curious if there were any similarities. The answer is no not really. This Death Eater inhales the victims last breath to get stronger. That was crazy. 

The book follows a couple where the girl had sold her soul to save her lover and they have thirteen lifetimes to find each other, and survive that life. Now the plot was intriguing, but, unfortunately, it took until book three for me to really get excited. That’s where more of the plot starts to unfold, and we learn about the first twelve lives. Then in book four, the ultimate battle between good and evil takes place. Literally during the exorcism, the demon comes to life. The book progressively gets better, and is better written, as well. In the first book the author told me, the reader, what was happening with little dialog, and by the end there was more conversations making me more a part of the story. If you enjoy stories focusing on God and demons, then this is for you.  I felt there is a heavy Catholic tone to the story when it comes to dealing with the subject.
