Devoured by Jason Brant

After he lunges in front of a car to save a sick and disoriented woman, Lance awakens in a quarantined hospital. A devastating plague is spreading worldwide, driving those infected with it insane. Their bodies begin to mutate into horrors that have haunted mankind’s nightmares for centuries.

The world descends into chaos as death holds sway in the streets.

With the help of an unlikely ally, Lance must navigate through the collapsing city of Pittsburgh, striving to escape the madness of the Apocalypse that unfolds around them.

Jason Brant draws you in from the first page and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last. You can see, hear and feel everything the characters are going through. Being this was my first horror novel I liked that the use of gore was not over the top. Though you can picture the creepy look of the creatures through every stage of their transformation, it wasn’t over kill to completely gross the reader out. If you like The Walking Dead and Zombieland then I think this book is for you.

Devoured is a horror novel set in  Pittsburgh. Jason Brant writes a gut-wrenching  and vivid story  about the world being taken over by mutant creatures. No X-men here. The story follows Lance York, a middle aged man down on his luck. When he feels life couldn’t get any worse, a mysterious virus spreads like wildfire, infecting his hometown. On his road to survive he meets up with a younger woman, Cassandra. Together they will fight the flesh –eating creatures that our now dominating the world and Lance learns he is not the loser her wants thought he was.
