Blurb:

Ava Garamond doesn’t want a mate—she needs one. If she doesn’t get herself, and her siblings, away from their father, they’ll all end up dead. Left with little choice after her pack turns their backs on them, she joins the Citadel, giving up her rights to choose her mate to ensure their safety.

Forced into finding a mate by a senile elder who holds way too much power, Damon McCrae enters the Citadel of the Chosen. His dragon wants more than a warm and willing body, it wants its fated, but time has run out. Leaving without a mate wasn’t an option. He’s resigned himself to a half-hearted mating, but when seeing a woman shoved to the ground has him seeing red, and his blood pumping hot in his veins, hope flares to life. Maybe finding a mate at the Citadel wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Excerpt:

“I wonder,” he said in a voice low enough for only the beautiful female on the station before him to hear, “how quiet you can be.”
He unbuttoned his shirt, pulled it off, and hung it on the handle protruding from his mate’s platform. Taking a deep breath, he expanded the area between his shoulder blades, allowing his wings to push through. When he was done releasing them, he brought them around himself, encompassing the station, shielding his mate from prying eyes. No other had the right to see her from this moment on. He fingered the satiny material of her blindfold at her temple, and she gasped. Soon, he’d remove even that small barrier keeping her from him.
“Can you? Be quiet, that is?” he asked her as he trailed the tip of one finger down from her collarbone to the tip of her breast. A needy whimper slipped past her lips.
“You need to come, don’t you? I’m shielding you from sight. You may answer my questions by nodding.”
She nibbled on her bottom lip for a second, then gave him the nod he was looking for.
“If I touch you, do you promise that you won’t utter a single sound? Can you keep from crying out?” Damon didn’t want to make her wait—hell, he didn’t want to, either, but pummelling every male still in attendance for having heard his woman’s pleasure wouldn’t bode well for him. It might even nullify his contract—something he could not allow.
She hesitated, then nodded again.
“Good.” He lowered his head and flicked her nipple with his tongue. Her back arched from the platform, but nothing more. Not a sigh, not a whimper, not a moan. Perfect. For now. “As much as I want to draw this out, it’s safest if we get out of here as soon as you’re released, so I’m going to make this quick. Remember your promise.”
She nodded again and released the lip she’d been worrying between her teeth as he slid his fingers between her folds. Slick and ready, her pussy quivered under his touch. It wouldn’t take much to send her flying over the edge. He stroked along her clit on one side, then the other before flicking across it. Her body tensed, and her fingers tightened around the posts she clung to until her knuckles turned white, but she remained silent.
He needed to feel her come apart, not just watch the abridged version his position would allow. With a moan, he slid two fingers into her, then used his thumb to circle and press onto her clit. Her breathing quickened, and she drew a sharp, silent breath, then as quietly as could be, her body clamped around his fingers, squeezing them in her tight grip as she came for him.
A fresh wave of her juices coated his fingers, and he wished he could start all over again, but not in the arena. He hadn’t considered the heady scent he’d just released from her, or the fact that other males now had the opportunity to take it in. The tension in his chest escalated at the thought. Already, the bond forging between the dragon and its mate was like a steel cord wrapped around his soul, connecting him to her, and her to him. He had to get her out of there before the beast lost control. What the hell was taking Edmond so long?

Author Spotlight:

Hi everyone, thanks for having me. I’ve been looking forward to this interview for a while. This is such a great set, I just want to shout about it off the rooftops, but since I’m not likely to climb up there, this is the next best thing. 😉

Hello, Élianne, welcome! How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?

I first started writing (seriously writing) back in 2011. My husband and I were sitting on the couch having one of those introspective conversations that couples sometimes do when he turned to me and asked: “If there was anything you always dreamed of doing, but never got around to, what would it be?”

I made some half-assed comment about having dreamed of writing a romance novel once when I was just a teen. I’d managed to get the first chapter or two written, and when it got hard, I put it away and never got back to it.

He then followed up his question with a very simple: “So, what’s stopping you now?”

I must have looked at him funny, because he repeated the question. I shrugged it off and said “Because I’m a nurse, not an author.”

I guess that wasn’t the right answer. He gave me “the look”. You all know what look I’m talking about. He went on to say that it would be a shame to one day look back at my life and wonder if I ever could have followed my dream and finished a novel. Well, nineteen books later, I guess I managed not too bad.

How did you come up with this storyline?

Ohhh…Damon had been percolating in my mind for a long time. Not a fully fleshed idea, but more of a couple of scenes (the arena scene being one of them), that just wouldn’t go away. When I came upon this opportunity to write a little naughtier, I decided to write a new story for it, and I just had to get it in there. The rest just kind of came to me. Of course, many of my books involve dragon shifters, so this was a no brainer.

What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?

The best aspects of writing is the freedom it gives. I love letting my creative side loose and get the stories that are swimming in my head to come out. Along with that, meeting all the great people out there who have the same interests that I do…romance. Connecting with readers has to be at the very top of the list for me. I love hearing from fans, and always welcome e-mails or messages on Facebook.

The worst has to be the amount of time an author spends alone. Writing is a very solitary endeavor, and although it is definitely worth it, it can be daunting at times. That’s probably why I love interacting with my fellow authors and the readers so much.

What inspires you to write?

I get my inspiration all around me every day. Sometimes I get it from people watching, other times just from noticing the world around me. A beautiful locale, or an event, and the ideas start to flow. Would you believe I actually have a folder on my computer called “Plot Bunnies Gone Wild”? Yep…and it’s always getting fed new ideas. I swear, one day, I’ll get to them all.

What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Damon?

So hard to choose. I hope you guys like these quotes.

Sure, other men were doing that all around him, but he was a dragon, and he didn’t share his treasures. Not touches or sounds. And she would be making plenty of noise once he got her alone.

The scent of her arousal filled his nostrils, making his cock jump. If it weren’t for the fact that he wanted to fill her body with his seed, marking every part of her with his scent, he might have lost control entirely and come like a fucking youngling just by witnessing her pleasure.

This is from a scene involving the heroine’s 12 year old brother, Marc:
Marc looked at Damon from his perch on the high bed, his gaze deadly serious. He took a deep breath and puffed out his little chest. “I may be small, but I will eviscerate you if you hurt her,” he threatened.

What would your friends say is your best quality?

I don’t know about my friends, but since my hubby is sitting right next to me, I’ll just ask him what he thinks. Hang on a sec…

His answer is… your kindness, you’re well rounded…(now he’s laughing nervously like he’s going to get in trouble for saying the wrong thing. lol). He went on with a bunch of other things, but honestly, I was laughing too much and now I don’t remember what he said. Maybe I should give myself an ego boost more often by popping these questions at him from time to time.

Are reader reviews important to you? Why?

Oh, goodness! So, so, so important. I can’t stress that enough. Reviews can make (or break a story, and sometimes an author if they are particularly brutal). If a reader loves a story, and leaves a kind word, it can be all the motivation that the author who is feeling run down needs to keep plugging along. Writing is a solitary job. We spend so much time at our computers, but when we hear from fans, or read some positive reviews, it makes it all worthwhile.

What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”

Now that’s funny. lol Who has time for anything but writing sexy stories?
All right, I guess I do have a few things I do when I’m not at my computer that doesn’t revolve around writing. My absolute favorite thing to do is spending time with my family and friends. I don’t get to do it nearly enough, but just this past week, I took a much needed breaks and did just that. Believe me when I tell you that it replenished my soul, and I’m feeling more relaxed than I have in years. I went on a road trip and visited a castle. I took a ton of pictures as inspiration, so, yay! We went to an amusement, and I pushed myself way beyond my comfort zone. Then I topped off my week with some camping. Now that is my idea of Heaven.

Tell us about your other books?

I’ve always been fascinated with dragons. I love them. So, it comes as no surprise that many of my books, including Damon, revolve around dragon shifters. I have three fleshed out series that are still works in progress.

Return to Avalore features dragon, phoenix, gryphon shifters, and even a jaguar. If you like your romance with a heavy dose of darkness, then this series is for you. Flickering Light, a short story prequel to the first full length novel is free for anyone who joins my newsletter. (shameless plug here)

I’ve just released the sixth book in my Dragon Blood series. This one features…you guessed it, sexy as sin dragons!

On top of all that, I have a series called my Dark Wolves series. You didn’t think I only did dragons, did you? This one is a four story series, and (spoiler alert) it’s a spin off from my Avalore series. If you like furry heroes who love their heroines with an unrivaled ferocity, then you won’t want to miss this one.

If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be?

That’s a good question. I guess what I’d like for people to know is that I’m a person just like anyone else. It’s so easy for people to kind of put people on a pedestal, and to be honest, I’m no more worthy of being up there than anyone else. Sure, I write and entertain people, but at the end of the day, I snuggle my kids, kiss my husband, and love people just the same as everyone else. I have fears and doubts, just like you. I worry about the future of the planet, cry at sad movies, as well as sad stories (love those stories, btw) if the author is good with expressing emotion.

My greatest wish for the world is for people to have more compassion and understanding for one another and what we all go through. My views may or may not align with everyone else’s one hundred percent of the time, but that doesn’t negate the other person’s views or mine for that matter. Neither does it make either side “less than”. We’re all just trying to make the best of the short time we have on this beautiful earth.

Thank you so much for sharing a little bit of your book, your work and your life with Elianne. We've loved getting to know you better. And thank you husband for us. He was a big help! Good Luck with the book!

Thank you so much for this terrific interview and to all the readers out there who have taken the time to read my rambling answers. lol Without all of you, none of this is worth a darned thing, so, thanks!
