Review: Project: Hero Atlantis Under Attack by Rick L. Phillips

Review: Project: Hero Atlantis Under Attack by Rick L. Phillips

It has been two years since our heroes last banded together to fight the menace of the Blue Hun. Now another threat to the world is on the rise. Sea King receives an urgent message from King Neptune in Atlantis. He and some of the others come to his aid while Dan Urich and the rest of the group venture to the Island of Vipralia to conduct a business deal. They are unaware of the dangers they will encounter there. Meanwhile, back at the Cincinnati, Ohio office of the Urich Foundation another superhero emerges. Who is The Sword? The answer can be found in the pages of Project: Hero Atlantis Under Attack.

This is a fantasy/super hero story set in Atlantis and on dry land in the present tense. This book had a few twists in it, some action, some humor, and I believe it would make a good super hero movie. I've not read a book by this author before but I will be sure to again.
Being a fan of comic books I liked this story. I even imagined the scenes in comic book form. This was a good quick read.

5 Stars

This is the third book in the Diary of Bink Cummings series.  You must read them in order.  This book had me flip flopping back in forth between liking the characters and wanting to slap them upside the head.  It's not a bad thing, it wasn't annoying.  It fit the book and showed the struggle of emotions between Bink and Big coming together.

In this volume, Bink is close to her due date with baby Harley.  Of course Big is being a huge over protective jerk.  He does have his sweet moments.  Bink is very emotional in this book.  It's mostly due to the pregnancy.  But Big does put her through a lot, and so does her mother.  Yes, her "mother" does make an appearance.  There were a few times when I could have shaken Bink for not leaving Big.  you'll know what I'm talking about when you read this book.

Big, I hated him for the most part.  By the end, I was liking him again.  (Deke is still my favorite though).  We did get to see a whole different side to him....His sweet side!

"When I say that I love you, it'll never be enough 'cause those words mean nothin' compared to how I truly feel.  Even the parts of you that push me away 'cause you're terrified of how you might be feelin', I still love 'em.  There isn't a single fuckin' part that I could ever stop thinkin' about, ever stop dreamin' about, or ever stop wantin' to touch.  Just havin' ya near, Sugar Tits, feeds me, my cock, and as fucked up and girly as it sounds, my soul too.  You're mine.  Always have been, always will be.  Till I'm rottin' six feet under, you belong to me, and even in death, I'll belong to you."

I am wondering what actually happened to Bink's mom though.

Blog Tour with Review: Black Horse by Addison Kline

Title : BLACK HORSE
Author : Addison Kline
Genre : Romantic Suspense

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22064966-black-horse

"What would you do if the only man you ever loved was the son of the man that murdered your parents?"
In Addison Kline's fiery romantic suspense novel, Averi Ford's future collides with her past with ferocious intensity. Averi Ford and Colt McClain have loved each other since they were children. They both come from a broken past. Colt's mother died when he was young, and Averi's parents were taken from her at the tender age of five. The same man is responsible for both of their broken childhoods: Tom "Black Horse" McClain. He also happens to be Colt's father. Now twenty years after the crimes that fractured both of their hearts, Black Horse is getting out of jail and he's coming after the girl who testified against him: Averi, herself. Colt wants to hide her, but Averi refuses to run.
"Our past does not own us, and we owe it to our hearts to show the world that love can arise from the darkest of places. We just have to survive Black Horse to tell the tale."

Black Horse Release Date will be May 28th.

Tonya's Review
3.5 stars

After reading the synopsis, I couldn't wait to read this book.  It sounded great.  It was on okay read.  It did leave me a little disappointed though.  I really liked Averi, Colton, Tim, Randy, and Shelly.

Averi Ford and Colton McClain have been friends since they were in diapers.  They moved from friends to lovers in high school.  And have been together for over a decade.  but his father, Tom "Black Horse" McClain murdered her parents and her oldest brother.  He also murdered his wife, Colton's mom, and he caused the death of Colton's grandmother.

Black Horse has been in prison for 20 years, but he is getting release now.

On top of the Black Horse drama, Averi also has to deal with her brother, Randy, hating Colt.  Randy thinks Colt will be like his father.

"Our past does not own us, and we owe it to our hearts to show the world that love can arise from the darkest of places.  We only have to survive to tell the tale."

The reason for the 3.5 stars is that things just didn't add up.  Shelly, and Tim, both say they like each other, then a few hours later they act like they've been together for awhile.  Black Horse had warrants out for him in Oklahoma, but stood trial for them in Texas.  Black Horse gets shot in the shin and shoulder, but no mention of the shin wound while the bullet is taken out of his shoulder.  They tell Averi she'll get out of the hospital in about 72 hours, after just having a skin graft for burns on her legs.  And the guys being injured, especially Colt's stomach injury, but an hour later, it doesn't affect him?

The last thing is Black Horse just won't die.  (small spoiler warning). Even when he is burning inside a building that collapsed on him because of the fire.

I really enjoyed the book until about the half way mark, that's when things didn't start to add up.  I really wanted to love this book, but it just wasn't for me.  That's okay though.  It does have a lot of 5 stars, so I am in the minority.
