LAST DAY: FREE Book: The Similayer Project Part One by Magen McMinimy, S.L. Dearing, Jax Walsh & Jean Michaels - Free on 4/26 & 4/27

A deadly pandemic. Five groups of survivors. One destination.

A deadly virus born of good intentions ravages the planet, leaving humans on the bottom of the food chain as the infected mutate into creatures born of myth and nightmares.

As the military sets out to gather the healthy inside the walls of a biolab located in the central United States, the fight for survival begins for anyone willing to step beyond the safety of their own front door.

Follow five groups of survivors as they journey from California, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, and Massachusetts in an epic journey to find, not only what’s left of their government, but their independence, true love, and the strength to survive in a world bent on breaking them.

Similayer Project Day 1:

The team landed in Antarctica at 0700 hours. Even the summer months in the vast frigid continent were bitter.

“Get your gear and move,” Jake Cooper, ordered. The lieutenant wasn’t sure how he ended up on the edge of the South Pole in the middle of January, leading a group of fifteen scientists and doctors from all over the world. However he’d learned long ago not to ask questions. He took orders like a good soldier. With packs in hand, the bay doors released letting the glacial winds whip through the interior of the plane. The bitter cold sucked the air from their lungs pushing them to scramble for safety.

Jake watched as the diverse group rushed towards the steel door of the research lab. With a shake of his head he started down the ramp to follow.

The facility door flew open, offering shelter to the group as they hurried up the short set of steps into the futuristic looking research lab and testing facility.

“Cooper, you made it.”

Jake offered a dip of his chin as he got the first glimpse of the man he once called a fellow soldier who had worked his way through the ranks and was now his superior. There was still camaraderie between the two and he would always look to Burke as a brother. Although Jake was the lily white to Burke’s mocha skin, he was just as much family to him as the little sister he left back home. Two tours overseas brought the most unlikely of individuals together.

“Is this your doing, Major?”

Burke shook his head as Jake cleared the last step and the heavy door slammed behind him.

“Perhaps, a few weeks ago General Manroe brought me in on a ‘hypothetical’ mission, next thing I know he’s calling in the men I said I would want if it were me leading the ops, and here we are.”

“What is the mission, Major? That group was pretty tight lipped on the eighteen hour flight over here.” He nodded towards the scientists and doctors, shucking their heavy coats as a much smaller group of white coats greeted them.

Burke arched a brow. “We’re here to save the planet.”

Part Two - Available on Kindle Unlimited

UNSEEN DANGER AND SECRET PLANS.

We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself the means of inspiration and survival. -Winston Churchill

After months of traveling, loss, and desperation, the survivors have found sanctuary in one of the last remaining government run facilities. Settling into the comfort and safety the heavily guarded walls provide, new friendships are formed, loved ones are reunited, and a semblance of the lives they once knew begins to wipe away pieces of the nightmares they’ve endured.

But, there are no guarantees in this world.

As the walls of their new home begin to close in on them and people begin to disappear, some start to question what lies beyond the restricted areas of the multilevel lab.

While unravelling the secrets that surround them, the survivors must decide between the potential threat among them or the danger beyond the walls.

FOLLOW THE SURVIVORS AS THEY STAGE THE FINAL FIGHT IN A WORLD BENT ON DESTROYING THEM.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Deadworld (Chronicles of Deadworld #1) by Debbie Cassidy (Adult Post-Apocalyptic, Urban Fantasy)

Deadworld
Debbie Cassidy
(Chronicles of Deadworld, #1)
Publication date: April 23rd 2019
Genres: Adult, Post-Apocalyptic, Urban Fantasy
Humans weren’t meant to live underground, but then artificial intelligences weren’t meant to feed off souls. Shit happens.
Being a Potential is an honor. It qualifies me for the mandatory Run, the chance to become a Guardian and wield one of the only weapons that can disable a Genesis scout. It also means I’ll have to leave the safety of my underground home and go topside, where the possibility of death goes up by eighty percent.
Badges of honor mean nothing if you’re dead.
I’d rather steer clear of any place where soul sucking AI roam. I’d rather stay safe in the Hive and hangout with my wolf-shifter co-worker. I’d rather work on the mechanical heart that keeps the Hive running and spend time with my enigmatic nephilim mentor. Heck, I’d rather be doing anything else. But I’ve made a promise to my best friend, a promise to get her to the finish line in time to win a spot as Guardian. How hard can it be, right? We have a plan. So why do I feel as if something is about to go seriously wrong?
It’s a game. Just a game.
Or is it?
First came Chronicles of Midnight, then came Chronicles of Arcana, and now we have Chronicles of Deadworld. Set a hundred years after the events of its predecessors Deadworld takes you into a Post-Apocalyptic Urban fantasy world with a slow burn Whychoose Romance.
You don’t have to read the previous series, but man, if you do the thrill ride will be unlike any other.
EXCERPT:
“You have a slight concussion. And it’s perfectly natural to be confused after a blow to the head.”
I reached up to touch the back of my head and probed gingerly, wincing when I hit the tender spot.
I hated this fuzzy feeling. This strange, helpless flutter inside me. “I can’t remember what happened. God, I hate this.”
“It may come back to you, it may not.” Emory smiled kindly. “Don’t worry too much about it. All that matters is that you’re all right.”
A lock of his silver-blond hair had fallen across his forehead, and before I could stop myself, I’d reached up and brushed it back. He froze. His pupils dilated and fixed on me, and then he let out a sharp exhalation and quickly stood and put distance between us. His gloved hands hovered at his pockets, but in the end, he settled for clenching them at his sides.
Oh, shit, Emory was a stickler for his personal space, and I’d just violated it. “Sorry, I … I have no idea why I did that.”
“It’s fine.” His tone was easy and smooth, but the clenched fists gave him away. I’d rattled him. “Just get some rest. Danika will give you some pills for the headache. Take the rest of the day off.”
What? “No.”
He canted his head. “No? Echo, you just fell twenty feet into a chasm.”
“I don’t want the others to think I’m getting special treatment.”
His frown was incredulous. “Special treatment? Of course you’re getting special treatment.” He leaned in slightly and enunciated his next words. “You just fell into the chasm.”
Incredulity had morphed into irritation, and although I’d seen him annoyed before, it was usually a flick of the brows, or a twitch of the lips; he never exploded, never raised his voice.
But Finn’s revelation as to why the other guys hadn’t accepted me was prominent in my mind, and maybe it was the fall, maybe it was the damn concussion, but my mouth decided to speak the thoughts running through my mind.
“The heart keepers think you’re favoring me because we’re lovers.” The sentence tumbled out and then sat between us like a bomb waiting to be defused.
Emory went very still. Was he holding his breath? Was I?
I pressed my fingers to my temple, wishing I could take the words back just to wipe the look of horror from his face. A look that was not good for my ego.

Take the journey, find the lock that fits the key and get some damn answers.

Get from point A to point B. Stick to the mapped-out route and take shelter at the pre-planned times. It sounds simple enough, now if only we’d factored in getting attacked by djinn and having to take a detour through The Wilds.
With obstacles at every turn, the last thing the fangs and I need on our arse’s is a new breed of Feral, but it looks like that’s exactly what fate us about to throw at us.
This trip is going to be anything but dull, but with the Fangs as back up, I may just make it to the Bunker in one piece and finally get some answers.
Whoever said road trips were fun can go suck it!

The Vampire Diaries meets The Walking Dead in this Post-Apocalyptic Urban Fantasy with a slow burn Why Choose romance
EXCERPT:
No. I didn’t. I didn’t want to hear it. “Don’t.”
The corner of his mouth lifted. “Oh, Eva, we are so past that.” His mouth crushed mine in a punishing kiss. The heat that had been gathering behind my eyes melted to tears.
“No!” I tore my mouth from him. “No. You don’t get to do this. Not now. I can’t. I won’t.”
He kissed me again, hard and desperate and hungry, as if trying to cram a hundred kisses into one. My heart swelled in my chest, and the numbness threatened to retreat. I shoved at his immovable torso, wanting him gone, but in the next heartbeat, I fisted his shirt, pulling him closer.

Surviving the zompocalypse is tricky when you play for both teams.
New from author Melissa Woods, Alive? is a heart-pounding adventure with suspenseful plot twists, complex characters, and a dash of dark humor. Gritty and raw, Alive? is sure to keep you guessing, and will delight zombie apocalypse fans everywhere.
EXCERPT:
A creak of floorboards. Violet opened her eyes just in time to see a woman lunge. She was wearing a white lace nightie, offset slightly by the gaping wound in her stomach. Violet held out her arms, pushing back with all her strength. She barely had any left, but it was just enough to keep the zombie at bay. The woman’s eyes were almost white, and her teeth snapped in Violet’s face. Though she had no idea what caused this or why it was happening, she knew this thing wanted to kill her.
Her arms were hurting, but she continued to fight. The zombie moved her head suddenly, sinking her teeth into Violet’s left arm, just below the elbow. She screamed as teeth tore through her skin.
It was worse than any pain she’d ever experienced—sharp and brutal. She kicked out, catching the woman in the stomach and pushing her back. Violet ran, clutching her bleeding arm against her chest. She had no idea where the back door was, so she ran up the stairs. When she saw the bathroom up ahead, she threw herself inside.
The door slammed shut, and Violet saw a man click the lock into place as she dropped onto the floor by the sink. He was normal, not dead like the others. There was a hammering at the wood, rattling the frame. The man grabbed a towel, hurriedly wrapping Violet’s arm. She wanted to thank him, but her eyes felt heavy. Within seconds, everything was black.

New Review from Belle: Control Freakz by Michael Evans (YA Post-Apocalyptic Thriller) - 5 Rising Stars

Control Freakz
by
Michael Evans

  • Print Length: 407 pages
  • Genre: YA Post-Apocalyptic Thriller
  • Publisher: Boundless Press; 2 edition (July 23, 2018)
  • Publication Date: July 23, 2018

Memories will haunt you.

Natalie has lost everything but herself, and she’s just one of thousands. After Protocol 00 is enacted, Natalie’s family is taken by the government, along with the families of her two best friends, Hunter and Ethan. With nothing to lose and the threat of government hitmen kidnapping them at any moment, the three must battle to survive in a horrid, post-apocalyptic world run by President Ash and his invasive government.
Risking ruthless leaders, attempted mind control, and her very existence on the planet, Natalie, along with Hunter and Ethan, will stop at nothing in their quest to regain everything they’ve ever known. But there are unrivaled powers working against them, and with impending doom looming at any moment, there is no one to trust and nowhere to hide. In a life devoid of hope, happiness, and safety, Natalie must battle both the darkness lurking inside and out of her in order to regain one fleeting memory of her past that has all but fallen away for good, but it might already be too late.

Control Freakz, written by Michael Evans and narrated by a teen girl named Natalie, explores a dystopian world in which the government seeks to mentally control all of the United States of America. Natalie and her two best friends, Hunter and Ethan, are forced to learn to live without any help, as they are some of the few who ingested a mysterious pill. They soon learn that the pill is the only thing protecting their mental freedom.

The teens battle the government, a twisted rebellion, and their inner demons as the bond holding them together unravels. Betrayal, heartbreak, and mental illness all clash in Natalie’s mind as she tries to hold herself together and bring back those she loves.

This story is very immersive. Oftentime I find myself holding my breath in suspense, or cheering the main characters on. The characters are also down-to-Earth. As a person with anxiety, I found I related more to Natalie. However, I know many people who behave similarly to Hunter, always keeping a smile on their face. I know many Ethans as well, analytical and smarter than most people see at first glance. I lost myself in the world that Evans created, and I'm sure you will too.

Michael Evans is the author of the novel Control Freakz and has always loved to read and write in his
free time. Whenever he is not writing he may be found at the beach or trying to walk Skye, his crazy goldendoodle. He is originally from Long Island, New York, but has since moved to Charleston, South Carolina. Michael Evans is constantly looking for an adventure, and loves to travel and see new things. Above all else, however, he would like to travel to the future, to a time where the world is way better than it is today. Despite the dystopic themes to his writing, he only writes about the dark possibilities of the future because he finds it way more interesting to write about than the good possibilities. He is driven to write every day to hopefully shed light on the dark prospects of the future, and to spread the message that humans are the control freaks of our own future, and it is up to us whether we bask in the darkness, or run free into the light.
