Lyric Scott has always had a good life. Outgoing, spunky, and musically talented, she’s constantly surrounded by family and friends, yet she still feels there’s something missing.
Then she meets her new next-door neighbor Ayden Gregory. Mysterious, sweet, and sad, Ayden is the exact opposite of Lyric and exactly what she needs to fill the void in her life.
Ayden has been through more than most people and believes his life is always going to be rocky, so when he’s suddenly adopted by the Gregorys, he’s thrown for a turn. But even with a new, loving family, he still finds himself haunted by the memories of his old life. The only true breath of fresh air is when he’s with his best friend, Lyric Scott.
As Lyric and Ayden grow closer, the lines of their friendship start to blur. But when Ayden's past unexpectedly pushes its way into his new life, their friendship and new found attraction will be tested.

Unraveling You by Jessica Sorenson is a bittersweet romance
about two teen that have lived completely different lifestyles. When Ayden is
adopted by his forever family it’s his new neighbor Lyric who helps soothe the
pains of his past and gives him hope that he too will someday be happy. Lyric
and Ayden are polar opposites. He is trying to forget the dark and tragic nightmare
that was his life and she is walking on sunshine with parents who love and
spoil her. The two seem an unlikely pair
to be friends but that is Lyric’s plan, that and to see him smile. What starts
out as a loving friendship over time grows into a confusing romance for the two
teens. Lyric and Ayden for a strong bond and are there to help each other when
facing dark and troubling times.
I
enjoyed this story and can’t wait to continue on in the series. The book tugged
at my heart strings in several different ways. One, as a mom, I feel for his
new mom who wants to help him but has no idea how. As I read about his tragic
past, I cried and wanted to hug him and tell him “it will all be ok.” Also as a girl I remember that one guy in
high school that was a good friend and always had my back. Every girl needs
that one guy who helps her navigate through dating and other high school drama.
I can see my own daughter becoming like Lyric. Full of warmth and caring with a
touch of walking on the wild side. I hope she finds her own Ayden. By the end
of book one I was saddened because I needed to know more about what was going
to happen. Thank goodness for book two.
