"The end of an Empire. The rise of a Queen."
Emory Fae enjoys leading a quiet, normal life that is until two mysterious, and dare I say handsome soldiers show up at her apartment doorstep and the life she knew is instantly whisked away. Coming from the magical and ravaged world of Kiero, Emory is brought back not realizing that both men are darkly woven in her past. Discovering she is the long lost heir to the Royal Line Emory is thrown into Black Dawn Rebellion with a dynamic role to ignite the rebels and reclaim her throne. With both lives clashing Emory uncovers hidden secrets from her past, a power held long dormant, and will soon realize there are worse things than supernatural humans, love, loss, betrayal, and a Mad King.
Some things are better left in the shadows.

Black Dawn, by Mallory McCartney, is a paranormal novel that is in third person partial POV.

The Academy, a school for supernatural people, was losing their battle against Adair, a corrupt king; their only hope is Emory Fae, the heir to the throne by blood. But, they have other issues, a love square, betrayals, and gossip being the worst of their problems. However, before Emory can help they have to get her back from a curious planet called Earth, and even then there is more time needed to fix her memories.

If you read my other reviews, then you know how much I love a love triangle. The only thing better is a love SQUARE. Emory has a semi-romantic background with both Brokk and Memphis, who are nearly brothers, and both are in love with Emory. Emory doesn't know who she can trust after learning dark secrets about Memphis. Now, you add Nyx into the picture. Not the Greek goddess of Night, Nyx, but another supernatural named Nyx who is in love with Memphis. Memphis is torn between his old flame and the girl who was there for him when Emory wasn't. As if that isn't confusing enough, a hidden fact about Brokk’s past may ruin his future.

The only note I have is make sure you read the chapter title, it tells you through whose eyes you are looking at the story with.

Mallory McCartney currently lives in London, Ontario with her husband and their two dachshunds Link and Lola. Black Dawn is her debut novel, the first in a series. When she isn’t working on her next novel or reading, she can be found dog grooming, book shopping and hiking. Other favorite pastimes involve reorganizing perpetually overflowing bookshelves and seeking out new coffee and dessert shops.
