Kasia Amon is a master at hiding. Who—and what—she is makes her a mark for the entire supernatural world. Especially dragon shifters. To them, she’s treasure to be taken and claimed. A golden ticket to their highest throne. But she can’t stop bursting into flames, and there’s a sexy dragon shifter in town hunting for her…
As a rogue dragon, Brand Astarot has spent his life in the dark, shunned by his own kind, concealing his true identity. Only his dangerous reputation ensures his survival. Delivering a phoenix to the feared Blood King will bring him one step closer to the revenge he’s waited centuries to take. No way is he letting the feisty beauty get away.
But when Kasia sparks a white-hot need in him that’s impossible to ignore, Brand begins to form a new plan: claim her for himself…and take back his birthright.

I have not been this excited about a book in months! Thanks to Abigail Owen and her book, The Rogue King, as she has rekindled the flame of reading for me. And her Dragon shifters sparked a flame in me too. Wink wink.

This story brought dragons, wolves, and phoenixes all together in a human world setting. Literally the world, since they travel all around the globe. Opposites really do  attract in this suspenseful love story with some very hot, sexy scenes. When I say hot, I mean there is fire involved. You will have to read the book to understand.

Brand, our hunky dragon shifter has no clan and trusts only himself. Kasia has been separated from her family because of dragons and can be too trusting. They have to work together in order to survive. Surviving is a tall order for the two of them. Now with sexy dragons flying about, my favorite character is Maul. He is a hellhound. Doesn’t shift. But he is the best dog a gal could ever want. He even teleports. I want my own hellhound after reading this. The prologue sucks you in immediately and  pulls you further into their world that by the time you finish the epilogue you need book two. I need to know more of what happens to the clans.

Owen does create a wonderful depiction of the world and you can see the shades of blue or gold as each dragon flies by. The only thing that I didn’t care for was occasionally in the descriptions she would throw in a word here and there that didn’t flow. It felt like she just wanted to throw in a big SAT word. That, I found distracting and not needed.

Overall, what a fun story and I am excited to see what happens next.
